Jomfruland National Park Visitor Centre

Kragerø municipality is beautifully located along the coast of Telemark, with a myriad of islands and skerries. The opportunities for outdoor recreation in the archipelago and on the mainland are exceptional. The municipality has just under 10,500 inhabitants and is characterized by an active business and cultural life. The municipality offers full kindergarten coverage, decentralized primary education, and an upper secondary school with a varied educational program. Within one hour of travel time, you can reach several larger cities in the region, an airport, ferry terminals, etc.

The announced position is a three-year temporary replacement for our current nature guide, who will be joining an exciting joint project with us and the other marine visitor centres. Now we need you to join the team as well!

We aim to strengthen our capacity for communication, conservation, and management of the natural values in the national park by hiring a nature guide for this temporary position. • Environmental education for school classes, kindergartens, and other groups.
  • Communicating knowledge about sustainable use and the importance of conservation.
  • Collaboration and network building, as well as visitor management.
  • Close cooperation with the Managing Director of the visitor centre, the national park manager, professional environments within the National Parks network, and the municipality’s various professional departments.

Desired qualifications:

  • Educational, guidance, or communication competence, with practical experience considered particularly important.
  • Environmental commitment and interest in conservation values, preferably combined with education in environmental studies, marine biology, or natural sciences, or experience working within these fields.
  • A relevant professional network for the position.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and in collaboration with other regional stakeholders.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in Norwegian.
  • Motivation and ability to handle periods of increased workload.
  • Personal suitability will be emphasized.

We offer:

  • Interesting and challenging tasks with a high degree of influence over your own work
  • Salary by agreement
  • Employee insurance schemes through KLP
  • Defined contribution pension scheme with DNB
  • Flexible working hours in an important and exciting organization
