Three-year temporary position as a nature guide for 70% - become part of the team at the Jomfruland National Park Visitor Center!

 

Kragerø municipality is beautifully situated on the coast of Telemark with a myriad of islands and reefs. The opportunities for outdoor recreation in the archipelago and on the mainland are outstanding. The municipality has just under 10500 inhabitants and is characterized by an active business and cultural life. The municipality has full kindergarten coverage, a decentralized primary school and an upper secondary school with a varied offering. Within a travel time of one hour, you can reach a number of major cities in the region, airports, ferry terminals, etc.

 

Jomfruland National Park was established in 2016 and the Visitor Center at Jomfruland was opened in June 2024.

 

The position advertised is a three-year temporary position for our current nature guide, who will be joining an exciting joint project with us together with the other marine visitor centers. Now we need you to join the team too!

 

We will strengthen our capacity for communication, conservation and management of the natural values in the national park by hiring a nature guide in this temporary position. Communication and nature guidance is one of the visitor center's most important tasks, and will contribute to the profile of the visitor center, the national park and Kragerø as an attractive visitor destination. It is important that there is good cooperation with other local actors in the municipality, and with the other marine visitor centers.

 

The position involves:

  • Actively contribute to the further development of communication programs and the center's profile.
  • Disseminate and provide information about the national park's nature, cultural history and conservation values.
  • Environmental education for school classes, kindergartens and other groups.
  • Disseminate knowledge about sustainable use and the importance of conservation.
  • Collaboration and networking, as well as visitor management.
  • Close collaboration with the general manager of the visitor center, national park manager, professional environments in the national parks and the municipality's various professional bodies.

 

 

Desired competence:

  • Pedagogical, guidance or communication skills with practical experience being particularly important.
  • Environmental commitment and an interest in conservation values, preferably combined with an education in the environment, marine biology or natural sciences or experience from working with these disciplines.
  • Relevant contact network for the position.
  • Sociability with the ability to work independently and in collaboration with other actors in the region.
  • Good written and oral presentation skills in Norwegian.
  • Motivation and the ability to cope with periods of increased work pressure.
  • Personal suitability will be given importance.
